Babies Teaching Babies?! What Is This World Coming To!

If you've ever had any doubts about the depths to which the numbers have invaded and pervaded our culture and society, look no further than this shocking article I am writing at this very moment.

Our schools have become so entranced by arithmetofascism that they have now begun using students to indoctrinate their fellow students with mathematical propaganda. Under the innocent-sounding guise of "peer education," school systems are obeying their numerist masters by proxy, turning innocent older children into math missionaries spreading the gospel of arithmetic to even innocenter younger children.

This insidous outrage was recently exposed by some investigative reporting by a local news station in Butler County, Missouri. KFVS-12 News gathered this shocking story - I can only assume - by enrolling one of their undercover reporters into an elementary school in Poplar Bluff, Missouri disguised as a first grader. What this courageous - and I presume short-statured - reporter uncovered during the investigation was nothing less than shocking:

Earlier this school year, Eugene Field Elementary School fourth grader Maraleigh Buss entered Kelli Spitze's first grade classroom and asked the teacher whether her students did their math homework.
...
Maraleigh is among over a dozen fourth grade teaching assistants who have volunteered to give up their special class periods—art, gym, library and music—to tutor first and second grade math students who may require some extra attention, according to school officials.
...
"She gets kids engaged right from the get-go," said Spitze, who began utilizing teaching assistants in her classroom last school year. "Sometimes children learn from their older peers much quicker. They are just more ready to be open-minded in that setting."
Using children to recruit other children using propaganda and indoctrination. Hmmm. Where have I heard that before?

An extreme comparison? Perhaps - but only if you consider the slippery slope to be a logical fallacy. As far as I'm concerned, children tutoring each other in math is just one sloping slip away from uniformed young thugs recruiting other kids to serve in the Math-ler Youth.

It's times like this that I'm almost glad the world is going to end in four weeks. Because a world in which babies are indoctrinating babies with arithmetical propaganda is not one I wish to continue.

Propaganda Alert: Delaware!

Beware, Delawaricans! Verizon is coming to brainwash your children!

The communications giant plans to use their thinkfinity.org reeducation platform to combat "learning losses" allegedly suffered by "students" while allegedly on "summer vacation." What they fail to mention are their deep-rooted ties with the governmento-numerical conspiracy.

This outrage is outrageous, and should leave us all outraged!

It's not bad enough that Delaware is the smallest, lamest, and least-interesting state in the union. Now Delaware is ground zero in the global war between the numbers and humans. Verizon, it seems, has sided with the numbers. We can only hope that they will repent from their treasonous ways before we humans are defeated.

NUMERIST PROPAGANDA

Just when you thought you'd heard enough about the 12th Century Italian patent clerk-turned-founder of modern mathematics Leonardo Fibonacci and his magical integers, along comes a new propaganda video to catapult the scientifico-numerist agenda into your living room, using the trebuchet of Internet video.

Nature by Numbers is a visually-beautiful offering to our numeral overlords, attempting to appease them by displaying the intrinsic geometries and sequences in nautilus shells and dragonfly wings and sunflower seeds. As if this Ode to Integerism will somehow appease them.

And we all know how well appeasement works out.

So go ahead! Watch this piece of blatant numerist indoctrination if you want. All the other "skeptics" are doing it. But don't come crying to me when the magical Fibonacci numbers turn on you anyway, attacking you and leaving you for dead just to entertain their cold digital hearts.

Just like Hitler.

Three More Books to Burn

Jesse Singal of the Boston Globe has brought to my attention three new treasonous books that quite blatantly take the Numbers' side in their War Against Humanity.

The Man of Numbers: Fibonacci's Arithmetic Revolution is author Keith Devlin's ode to Leonardo "Fibonacci" da Pisa, the 13th Century mathemagician and sequentialist who first brought Hindu/Arabic numerals to the West, guaranteeing the downfall of human civilization.

Cosmic Numbers: The Numbers That Define Our Universe is James D. Stein's thoroughly biased and numero-centric look at the mathematical "constants" that claim to rule our universe, from the speed of light to the coefficient of gravity to absolute zero.

Finally, Ian Stewart's The Mathematics of Life is yet another blatant bit of numerist propaganda, trying to convince us that numbers are somehow "natural" and not a construct designed by shadowy enemies to destroy us all.

Needless to say, The Math Skeptic shall not be reading any of them.

Seismologists Indicted For Not Predicting Earthquake

I hate to say "I told you so." I really do. There are few things that pain me more than a vigorous finger-wag and a scolding reminder of my prior fortellsions.

But in this case it is richly deserved.

The wonderful news out of Italy is that the families of the 309 people killed in the 2009 L'Aquila earthquake may finally receive justice. Six Italian seismologists and one government official have been charged with manslaughter for failing to predict the April 6, 2009 quake.

Typically, the global numero-scientific cabal is circling the wagons to defend the allegedly-homicidal seismologists. And as to be expected, they're throwing around the standard set of excuses: that earthquakes can't be predicted, that the purpose of seismology is to quantify earthquake hazard for a given region, and that people in earthquake zones should retrofit buildings or something - I don't know. I didn't read the whole thing.

The problem, of course, is that the seismologers were trying to use an inexact science like science to make their earthquake hazard shakey maps or whatever they do. Whereas the most effective techniques for earthquake prediction are currently in the domain of pseudoscience.

Legitimate seismologists summarily dismissed the radon-based predictions of pseudoscientist Giampaolo "Rudy" Giuliani, who predicted the earthquake nearly a week before it hit. Also summarily dismissed was my own successful earthquake prediction, using the pseudoscience of looking for alignments of various celestial bodies with the then-undiscovered Comet C/2010 X1 (Elenin).

So, scientists... although it hurts me to say it, I told you so!
